HELLO

I’m Zach and I love writing except for when I have to have to write about myself — but I suppose someone has to do it.

In short, I’m a creative copywriter with six years of agency experience. The last year of which I’ve been at Saatchi’s & Saatchi’s Auckland and created three campaigns short-listed in the New Zealand Axis awards with my partner Gina Morgan.

In long, I began my advertising journey in 2018 by enrolling into the MDS Creative Advertising Course where I picked up three accolades including a Crystal Award for Print at AdStars, runner-up at the Student ORCAs radio contest, and first place in the Google Student Axis competition. I really enjoyed my time there, and since graduating I’ve mentored a couple of student teams.

Right out of ad school, I started out doing work experience at Shine Limited (now Bastion Shine) and within a week, I was offered a job. A couple of months later, I was partnered with an intermediate art director. A few years after that, I had several winning pitches under my belt including Tip Top, Whittaker’s, Air New Zealand and Tower, earning my right to delete the word ‘junior’ from my email signature.

In 2024 I joined Saatchi’s and haven’t looked back. I learned a lot from my time at Bastion Shine, but it’s since moving to Saatchi’s and partnering with Gina that I feel like I’ve hit my stride. In the more awards-driven environment I’ve had a much easier time getting good work through which has restored my passion for the job and then some. Plus I get to write Tui lines which is super sick

Over the past several years (when I wasn’t slaving away at driving brand value) I’ve also had some success in the stand-up comedy world. In 2022 I reached the finals of the New Zealand Comedy Raw Competition, and since 2023 I’ve been accepted into every Auckland International Comedy Festival including the one coming up.
